SSS - ABSENTIALUNAE

Absentia Lunae is a Black Metal from Italy. They are currently signed to the record Label ATMF. They've been around for over a decade now going back to 2002,when Climaxia,Khrael and Ildanach formed the band and were later on joined by Sephrenel.

They have had a few releseases starting with "Marching Upon Forgotten Ashes" which they self produced and self-released. The following year in 2006- "In Vm brar vm Imperii Gloria" LP is released on vinyl. In 2007 Aase and K.x.e. leave Absentia Lunae and that same year a cd version of "In Vmbrarvm Imperii Gloria" was released by Sol Invictus Recordings.

Blastphemer and MZ join the lineup in the roles of as drummer and effects player in 2008 During 2009 they put out "Historia Nobis Assentietvr". Album number three, "Vorwarts" meaning "forward, never look back" is already getting exellent reviews HIGH scores go to excellent drumming and guitar riffs at times blazing out in unison.

Highlighted by Ildanach's dominating wide range of vocals and some of the 7 tracks here incorporate a lovely orchestral backing Now the lyrics are in Italian which seems to add a unique depth to the music..

I spoke to vocalist Ildanach and asked him the following questions.


YOU'VE BEEN AROUND SINCE 2002 HOW HAS YOUR MUSIC EVOLVED OVER THE PAST DECADE?

Ildanach: It has evolved so much, now our music has a deeper feeling, digging deeper into the spiritual side of the listener. Our early material was influenced by anger and despair watching the modern world. Now we're transformed the same into something still very aggressive but more visionary.

WHAT WAS THE INSPIRATION BEHIND YOUR LATEST ALBUM VORWARTS?

Ildanach: Let's say musically speaking this is far beyond anything running on today. The word means "Forward" to point out how far our target is from the nowadays scene, that is totally addicted to influences that have nothing in common with extreme meaning and the magic word "attitude". Many times we have been pointed out as arrogant, in some way provocative, but didn't get that we was simply following our way and this won't change cause this is the only meaning is growing the Absentia Lunae Concept. The music is therefore in some way a perfect sum of a modern experimental architecture and ancient ages nostalgia, where the martial feeling is always present.

HOW LONG DID IT TAKE TO COMPLETE THE WRITING FOR THE NEW RELEASE BEFORE HITTING THE STUDIO?

Ildanach: We passed three different phases. We started rehersaling together as an unity,we made a second step getting new elements from our idividual feelings and then we joined forces to merge the elements into a stronger unity. It has been always like that for Absentia Lunae cause we know where we want to go and we respect each other, once we get back to the final part of the creation all becomes naturally homogeneous cause The Absentia Lunae spirit has become stronger than our individualities.

GIVE US YOUR THOUGHS ON PIRACY IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY?

Ildanach: The concept is pretty simple, if you want independent music to grow you have to support both bands and labels who deserve it. I see something is moving today but still the change of mentality of the digitalization cause a huge damage to the labels, we now are nearly into a collectors market and the digital mp3 sale is increasing very slowly.

WILL YOU BE TOURING IN SUPPORT OF THE ALBUM AND IF SO WHERE?

Ildanach: We're doing some selective concerts but there's not any tour planned atm. We was considering coming to USA next year cause we have a good support there and think to be ready to play there.

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR STYLE IN 1 SINGLE WORD?

Ildanach: As the name of the album, "Vorwarts" "Forward"
