I Ran across these guys on You tube and decided to take a listen. OH BOY, was I up for a surprise! Little did I know, Distartica has no front man and their drummer, Carlos Vasquez, does all the vocals which is astonishing in itself and no mean task.
Distartica was formed in 2008 in Houston and also features shredders Alex Vasquez and Carlos Caceres. I gave their new album In Flames We Rise a turn and here are my thoughts on this amazing masterpiece.

The Musicianship on this whole CD is top notch! I love the fact that every song sounded different. The time changes were amazing. You can sense their influences as they pay homage to their heroes yet still maintain their own originality. In “Legion of Cowards”, there was so much meat in the song. It was thick with total shred. “Rising Torment” is total in your face thrash that makes you want to jump in the pit full force. My top runner is probably, “Massive Strike”, I was like HOLY SHIT!!! The title speaks for itself. Track by track this album pummels you along at neck breaking speed. From, the title track to “Hate Unending”; which is like an onslaught of truth how hate is eternal regardless of the source; all the way to “Beast of Oppression” that has a nice punch of powerful blasting thrash of old, “In Flames We Rise” is one of the best Metal albums of 2017, in my opinion, that I have had the pleasure of listening to. I cannot wait to hear what they have in store for us next!
